The performance evaluation of gifted students needs to comply with common criteria. This means that if a problem has been solved very well, the performance must receive the best grade, even if the level of difficulty was lower than the student’s abilities.
It might make sense, however, to agree with the student on a second, unofficial grade that incorporates the observation and support of her individual goals. For example, how well she has improved her self-management skills or succeeded in keeping her documents in order.
